START WITH THE INSTALLED SYSTEM
Look for FL-1800C-220 and the Spectra Connect display. An earlier Farallon with MPC controls can share plumbing without sharing electronics. Current model listing ↗
The original Farallon 1800C has 2 vessels containing 4 × 40-inch membranes. Count and identify the installed vessels after any retrofit. Compare original arrays ↗
The illustrated Farallon 1800C has a 20% SP-5 Pearson Pump. Check its plate and revision before ordering internals. The motor and VFD require their own label check. Pump identification ↗
Rated production: 75 US gallons / 284 liters per hour; 1,800 US gallons / 6,813 liters per day. These are manufacturer ratings at 77°F / 25°C and 33,000 PPM feed water, not a prediction for every installation. Model fact sheet ↗
The shared manual includes a 110V 1800C arrangement. This guide does not extend its 220V electrical links to 110V units. Use the installed model’s manual and confirm the replacement motor, drive and accessory supplies with Spectra.
LENGTH, DIAMETER AND ORDER QUANTITY
Each kit replaces one membrane element and includes replacement seals. The original Farallon 1800C array uses 2 elements. A kit is not the complete vessel, end cap or retaining ring.
One kit for one element. Count the installed elements before ordering.
The 2.5-inch-diameter KIT-MB-40F used in many Newport and Catalina installations is a different size. Use the 4-inch diameter, seawater specification and installed vessel identification together.

THE DIMENSIONS CUSTOMERS ASK FOR
| Position | Existing product | Manufacturer nominal length × diameter | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| First seawater stage | FT-FTC-20BB | 10 inches × 4 inches | 20-micron pleated polyester Before the 5-micron stage |
| Second seawater stage | FT-FTC-5BB | 10 inches × 4 inches | 5-micron pleated polyester Downstream of the 20-micron stage |
| Freshwater-flush stage | FT-FTC-CCBB | 10 inches × 4 inches | Solid carbon block Separate flush circuit; removes chlorine |
Dimensions follow Spectra’s own nominal descriptions. Measure the installed cartridge if its label is missing; nominal sizes can differ from end-to-end measurements. 20-micron dimensions ↗ · 5-micron dimensions ↗ · Carbon dimensions ↗
FT-FTH-10BC3P1 is named in the dual-prefilter and flush drawings. Match the exact body, ports and pressure duty before replacing it. A cartridge size does not identify an interchangeable housing. Dual-prefilter assembly ↗
The spares list names SO-FHS-3PS20BB. The catalog also has the three-piece Big Blue wrench. Confirm the housing groove and ring profile with Spectra before ordering either. The 20BB code does not make the pictured cartridge 20 inches long. Housing seal reference ↗
6-inch strainer screen and strainer seal belong at the seawater intake. The assembly drawing includes a different screen option; identify the installed strainer. A 6-inch screen size is not a cartridge size. Intake-strainer drawing ↗
Replace the two sediment stages in their documented order. Keep carbon in the freshwater-flush circuit. Follow the specific bowl and plumbing instructions if Z-Ion equipment is installed.
HOW THE COMPONENTS WORK TOGETHER
The screen catches larger debris before the booster pump.
The booster supplies the 20-micron stage, then the 5-micron stage, before the main module.
The energy-recovery pump supplies the high-pressure membrane circuit. Product water and concentrated brine leave through different paths.
The salinity probe and flow sensor monitor product water. The diversion valve directs acceptable product water to the tank.
Freshwater flushing: the vessel’s pressurized freshwater passes through the separate carbon/flush module and the documented intake path. The April 2025 plumbing revision routes flush water through the strainer; compare older installed plumbing before changing hoses. Current plumbing schematic ↗
A DIFFERENT PUMP FAMILY
2,500-hour-labelled SP-5 kit supplies seals for the 1800’s documented pump group. Compare the current kit contents with the leak or service task you are addressing. Manufacturer model selection ↗
10,000-hour-labelled SP-5 kit contains internal rebuild components for the same 20% group. It has a different scope from the seal kit; avoid ordering overlapping pieces without checking contents. Manufacturer model selection ↗
Use the 20% exploded drawing on page 89 to locate the service group and callout. Match the installed pump revision. These are Pearson parts; the Ventura’s 7%/10% Clark Pump kits are not the Farallon kits. Open pump internals ↗
Do not select 30% seals or a 30R kit for this 20% pump merely because the exploded assemblies look similar. Ratio-specific parts need the installed pump identification.
The manufacturer’s 2,500/10,000-hour names distinguish service-kit packages. They do not by themselves diagnose a fault or require replacing a healthy pump at that hour count.
SEE WHERE THE REPAIR PART BELONGS
Choose a group, then open its original PDF for the complete callouts. Reset returns to all drawings.
Showing all assembly drawings.

Locate the belt-driven Pearson Pump and main motor. The photo labels 20% for the 1800; verify the actual pump plate and motor/VFD labels.

Use the original numbered callouts and parts table to identify the internal layer or seal. Open the full-size PDF for small text. This is the manufacturer’s reference drawing, not a new 3D model or a disassembly instruction.

Two separate housings: 20-micron first stage, then 5-micron second stage. Both use the manufacturer nominal 10 × 4-inch cartridge class.

Identify the carbon cartridge, housing, check valve and flush solenoid. The drawing’s coil callout needs a component-label check; 220V system input does not become the solenoid rating.

EL-FP-BP8GPM220 is the illustrated 220V / 60Hz booster. Match the installed frequency and connections with Spectra before ordering.

The strainer screen, seal and spring check valve are distinct from the cartridge stages. View intake check valve. Identify the actual screen variant.

Identify the power breaker, display and manual/auto/service selector. The page labels different breakers for 110VAC and 220VAC arrangements; use the installed configuration.

The salinity probe and 150-PSI transducer are separate devices. The pictured inline flow-sensor suffix is not established as an interchangeable catalog SKU.
SYSTEM VOLTAGE AND COMPONENT VOLTAGE
The parts pages show a 2 HP three-phase motor plus 1 HP and 2 HP drive variants. Confirm the installed motor nameplate and VFD before ordering. Shared manual coverage does not make these drives interchangeable. Motor photo ↗ · Drive variants ↗
The illustrated booster is 220V / 60Hz. The enclosure includes a 24V fan, and the flush photo labels a 12V solenoid. Identify each component and its circuit. Confirm frequency and actual accessory supply with Spectra. Booster photo ↗ · Flush coil ↗ · Full electrical schematic ↗
The manifold names an SP4 salinity probe, a 150-PSI transducer and an inline flow sensor with a specific suffix. Match generation, range and connector. A shorter probe cable or similar flow-sensor name is not proof of interchangeability. Sensor locations ↗
EL-BRK-15ADP is the 220V enclosure callout on page 73. Vessel supply protection is discussed elsewhere in the manual with different figures. Confirm the actual replacement circuit and rating with Spectra; do not size a new installation from this product link.

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT WITH ITS OWN REQUIREMENTS
Connect is in Spectra’s ZION-AUTO control group. This catalog also retains ZION-FL and Z-ION-FAR. Confirm the Farallon-specific bowl, plumbing, trigger, accessory supply and exact package with Spectra before ordering. No equivalence or supersession between these three listings is asserted. Control-group selection ↗ · Farallon installation reference ↗
Spectra Connect tank sensor kit is listed in the 2800C fact sheet. The shared manual explains tank-level inputs. Confirm tank geometry, sensor type, controller revision and calibration with Spectra, especially for a retrofit. Tank inputs ↗ · 2800C optional equipment ↗
KIT-BCK-D is the Farallon cruising-kit reference. It covers a different task from a pump rebuild kit. Compare current contents with your onboard sediment filters, carbon element and storage chemicals before adding individual duplicates. Suggested spares ↗
Z-Ion is not freeze protection. Follow the installed system’s storage instructions for longer idle periods or freezing conditions; do not remove carbon or change flush plumbing based only on an accessory name.
SERVICE SUPPLIES BY THE JOB
Service the pair when the controller’s filter indication rises. Keep the 20-micron stage first and 5-micron second. Clean the housing and inspect seals separately; Spectra’s procedure replaces dirty cartridges. Filter service ↗
The standard flush cartridge is replaced at least every six months. Use the installed flush/Z-Ion procedure and maintain the freshwater supply required for automatic flushing. Carbon service ↗ · Autostore ↗
The manual specifies 5W-30 synthetic oil and calls for replacement at 5,000 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Inspect level and condition; milky oil needs attention. Follow the complete drain/refill procedure and avoid overfilling. Oil maintenance ↗
Check sediment restriction, booster pressure and pump operation before replacing or cleaning membranes. Water temperature and salinity affect output too. A handheld salinity meter checks a different issue: product quality. Membrane diagnosis ↗ · Fault diagnosis ↗
SC-1 storage compound preserves an idle system; it is not a cleaner or freeze protection. Use the storage and return-to-service procedure for the installed system. Long-term storage ↗
SC-2 alkaline cleaner and SC-3 acid cleaner address different diagnosed fouling. Follow Spectra’s sequence, dilution and purging procedure; do not mix them or clean solely because output is low. Membrane cleaning ↗
ANSWERS BEFORE YOU ORDER
The original Farallon 1800C uses 2 4 × 40-inch seawater elements. KIT-MB-4X40SW replaces one; the complete original array needs 2 kits. Verify installed vessels after a retrofit.
The length can be the same while diameter differs. These Farallon elements are 4-inch diameter; the common Newport KIT-MB-40F is 2.5-inch diameter.
The documented FT-FTC-20BB and FT-FTC-5BB sediment elements and FT-FTC-CCBB carbon element are manufacturer nominal 10 inches long × 4 inches in diameter. The two sediment stages and carbon flush stage serve different circuits.
No. The original Farallon 1800C uses a 20% SP-5 Pearson Pump. Use its ratio-specific service kits and exploded drawing, not Ventura Clark Pump internals.
No interchangeability is established. Spectra lists 20R kits for Farallon 1800 and 30R kits for Farallon 2800. Confirm the installed pump ratio and revision.
No. The main supply, motor/VFD, booster, sensors and low-voltage accessories have separate requirements. Read actual component labels; confirm voltage, frequency and connectors with Spectra.
The Connect control group uses ZION-AUTO in Spectra’s current selection guidance. Farallon-specific package listings still need confirmation of bowl, plumbing, trigger and accessory supply. Their names alone do not establish interchangeable kits.
