Find the commercial filter stages, AC booster, 30% Spectra-Pearson pump and MPC controls. Match the installed pump, membrane elements and electrical interfaces before choosing replacement parts.
Identify main power, controls and fitted equipment independently.
AC input does not identify DC controls or solenoid outputs.
Confirm the actual pump ratio and revision.
Carbon flushing uses a separate housing.
Identify actual dimensions, vessel count and end caps.
Identify installed equipment before retrofit or generator service.
Confirm a suitable supply separately from the motor and MPC board.
Mechanical references are available while power is unidentified.
MATCH THE GENERATION AND SERIAL RECORD
Identify your Farallon Mk II MPC
2009–2017 MPC generation
The manufacturer index separates Mk II MPC from 2018-current Connect. This guide uses the original Mk II manual headed “MPC 5000 from S/N 3840.” An earlier serial does not automatically prove MPC-3000; inspect the installed box and any changes.
The documented Farallon 2800 uses a 30% SP5 Spectra-Pearson pump. Commercial sediment filters and a separate carbon flush module serve different paths. Clark Pump and Newport feed-head parts are excluded.
Boat AC input, VFD three-phase motor output, MPC DC board supply and flush/diversion outputs are separate details. The shared parts guide covers later equipment; verify actual revision before using a current assembly.
The older manual uses FT-FTC-CCBB10; the current manufacturer names FT-FTC-CCBB. Confirm actual carbon housing and current package. Carbon remains a separate check when sediment housings have changed. Replace the carbon element at least every six months under the original manual; fitted Z-Ion does not establish chlorine protection.
Current 5-micron and carbon references specify nominal 4 × 10-inch elements. The July 2025 Connect fact sheet also specifies 4 × 10-inch 20/5 sediment elements; it is a later dimensional comparison. Confirm actual length, diameter and ends. Do not transfer Connect controls, electrical options or vessel quantities to this MPC installation.
ELEMENTS AND VESSEL HARDWARE ARE DIFFERENT REPAIRS
Membranes: confirm the actual 4 × 40-inch element
One kit serves one element
4 × 40-inch seawater membrane kit supplies one membrane and seals. The original list names FT-MB-SW4X40. Identify actual labels, dimensions and installed count before ordering. No whole-system order quantity is selected.
The shared drawing names FT-PV-EC4IN cap and FT-PV-ER4IN ring. Second-generation cap candidate requires actual vessel and revision confirmation with Spectra. The element, cap, ring and seals have separate scopes. Missing exact legacy listings are kept as identification codes.
Shared and later illustrations identify components, not every original 1800/2800 arrangement. Record actual number of vessels and element labels, including changed stacks. Later Connect vessel counts are not used to set an MPC order quantity.
AC INPUT, TWO DRIVES AND SEPARATE DC CONTROLS
Pearson motor, booster and electrical interfaces
Original AC input options
The Mk II installation section lists 220V AC for the 2800. A different historical fact sheet or later model does not certify a 110V conversion. Verify actual input and drive configuration with Spectra. No 24V or 48V DC main-motor option is inferred.
Two-HP NEMA4 drive candidate needs actual rating, terminals, signal and programming confirmation with Spectra. A single code does not establish both complete drives.
Identify actual MPC board supply at Batt+ / Batt− independently of AC input. Flush valve, product-diversion valve, cooling fan and optional accessory power can have different outputs. Factory accessory outputs are limited; do not connect motors or pumps as accessories.
Shared identification and current manufacturer service-kit selectors assign 20% to Farallon 1800 and 30% to Farallon 2800. Select the confirmed 30% SP5 above to show this guide’s ratio-specific kit references. A changed pump needs its own service route.
2,500-hour seal kit contains all pump seals; 10,000-hour internal kit contains all internal components. Confirm actual revision, condition, supplied scope and overlap with Spectra. The kit names do not replace the installed pump’s inspection and service instructions.
The drawing below is explicitly labeled 30% SP5M from the March 2025 Connect manual. It helps identify components after confirming actual SP5 revision. It does not certify every later internal part, wiring assembly or control kit for the 2009–2017 MPC system.
ACTUAL CONTROLLER AND CHIP GOVERN THE PROBE
SP4 replacement and MPC control paths
The Mk II spare list names SP4. Earlier SP1/SP2/SP3 hardware and controller replacements require an actual board/chip check. A standalone board is not a complete system conversion.
Identify the installed controller and chip.
MPC-3000 requires a Farallon-specific review
SP4 alone is not compatible. Confirm an approved complete conversion, Pearson and booster drive interfaces, actual DC supply, wiring and programming with Spectra. This guide does not automatically recommend a generic Newport conversion kit.
B-series / A31
A40 board plus SP4 is the current listed route. Confirm installed interfaces and programming.
A34 / A35
SP4 requires EL-MPC-SPCBA daughter board, or A40 plus SP4. No exact daughter-board listing is invented; confirm availability. The probe alone is insufficient.
A36 / A37 / A39 / A40
SP4 is listed as compatible. Match actual connector, 15-foot reach and calibration. The shorter SP4N is a separate conditional candidate.
After installation, use the procedure for the installed controller and compare its salinity reading with a calibrated independent meter. The original MPC manual uses Salinity Cal through the display. A product-flow reading does not certify water quality.
Current automated Z-Ion candidate requires confirmed MPC controls, suitable trigger/connector, plumbing and an approved 12/24V DC accessory supply. Do not connect it directly to AC or 48V. Confirm the full current package with Spectra. Board voltage alone does not establish an approved accessory connection.
Combined replacement bowl and rod serves an installed matching generator. Do not automatically add a separate rod. Loose bowl/rod candidates require actual connector and threaded-base confirmation; they do not supply a complete retrofit or controller.
Z-Ion can change approved storage practice after a correctly commissioned installation. Follow its actual instructions and confirm chlorine protection. Z-Ion and SC-1 do not prevent freezing; use the current fitted-system winterizing procedure.
Shared drawings name 12V freshwater-flush solenoid without body and a separate 220V product-diversion valve. Match actual coil output, body, adapter and function with Spectra. Main motor or MPC supply does not establish either coil’s output.
150-PSI transducer needs actual sensing location and range confirmation. Shared EL-SSR-IFM4GPM has no exact listing here; SP5 flow assembly candidate requires range, connector and calibration review. SP4 measures salinity separately.
Use the marked tube and fitting
The manual’s product-tube inch/mm conversion is inconsistent. Match actual marked outside diameter and fittings. Low-pressure product tubing is never a high-pressure replacement. The original PL-HS-1/2HP hose and shared high-pressure tube are different codes; confirm assembly and pressure rating.
Confirm actual O-ring/UNF versus tapered thread geometry. Similar diameter alone does not establish a connection.
Original MPC pages and shared later references are labeled separately. Open each source for full-size callouts. Confirm actual revision before ordering a pictured component.
Showing all assembly drawings.
Mk II MPC piping schematic
Follow strainer, inlet service module, booster, 20/5 sediment pair and separate carbon flush path. The original source contains inconsistent inch/mm and pressure conversions; use actual component markings and approved instructions.
Shared component reference identifies 1800 as 20% and 2800 as 30%. Two-HP three-phase motor, manifold, valve and mounts are separate items; confirm actual revision.
Separate booster and Pearson drives are shown with AC input and three-phase outputs. Wiring changes require the actual diagram and factory programming; this image is rotated upright for reading.
Original manual specifies 5W-30 synthetic and 5,000 hours or annually, whichever first. Changed crankcases need their own current instructions; later Connect intervals are not transferred.
Later Connect manual reference, explicitly labeled 30%. Identify actual SP5 revision before applying internal components; it does not certify a controls conversion. Rotated upright for reading.
Inspect the strainer and replace loaded sediment filters with new elements under the Mk II maintenance section. Replace the carbon element at least every six months. The older generic appendix’s wash/reuse wording and extra filter stages are not transferred to this guide.
The original counterclockwise CAT crankcase section specifies 5W-30 synthetic oil, changed at 5,000 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Check level and contamination. Match an altered crankcase or pump to its own current instructions. The later Connect 300-hour interval is not transferred.
Original oil-change kit code KIT-SPP5-OP has no exact catalog listing here; confirm its current availability with Spectra.
The original five-day Auto Store requires uninterrupted AC power, DC controls and pressurized domestic water. Confirm actual flush-volume calibration and installation. A power interruption or changed controller can invalidate the automatic-storage setup.
SC-1 is storage compound; SC-2 and SC-3 are separate conditional cleaners. Diagnose poor flow/quality before cleaning. Never mix SC-2 and SC-3; use nonchlorinated water and the approved sequence.
The original manual gives inconsistent gallon/liter conversions for retained volume. No numeric chemical dose or automatic cleaning volume is provided here. Confirm actual installed volume and current Spectra procedure. Open the pressure-relief valve only under the prescribed depressurized service procedure and purge correctly before pressurizing.
Current Cruise Kit D lists three commercial 20-micron, three commercial 5-micron, one commercial carbon element and two SC-1 packs. The older manual’s abbreviated kit description omits carbon. Confirm present package contents; spare-stock quantities are separate from fitted counts.
No. This manual names 10-inch commercial elements and a 3PS20BB seal. Match the actual bowl, ring, element dimensions and wrench family.
Can I use Clark Pump service parts?
No. These documented Farallon models use SP5 Spectra-Pearson pumps: 1800 is 20%, 2800 is 30%. Confirm changed pumps separately.
Can a 110V-input 1800 use a 220V motor or booster?
The drives separate boat input from three-phase motor output. Check each nameplate and drive; do not choose replacements from boat input alone.
Does confirmed MPC board voltage approve Z-Ion power?
No. Confirm an approved 12/24V DC accessory supply, wiring and current retrofit package with Spectra. AC and 48V must not power Z-Ion directly.
How many membrane kits should I order?
Count the actual fitted elements and read their labels. One kit serves one confirmed 4 × 40-inch element. Later Connect vessel counts are not used as this MPC system’s order quantity.
Is a generic MPC-3000 upgrade automatically suitable?
No. The Farallon Pearson and booster drive interfaces, actual supply, wiring and programming need factory review. SP4 alone and a standalone A40 board are not complete MPC-3000 conversions.
