Overview
KIT-FLT-OW adds an oil-removal filter stage to the watermaker’s seawater feed path. Its purpose is to reduce exposure of the membrane to oil and fuel contamination that ordinary sediment prefilters are not intended to address.
Spectra’s Ventura instructions place the optional oil/water stage upstream of the 5-micron prefilter. The Newport 700/1000 Mk II-Z instructions place it upstream of the 20- and 5-micron stages. Follow the arrangement for the installed system.
The separator adds protection; it does not establish that visibly polluted harbor water is suitable feed water. Spectra’s intake guidance still calls for avoiding contaminated water.

For an element change, use the matching FT-FTC-OW cartridge. The kit is the listing to review when adding the separator stage.
