Overview
KIT-HHM is Spectra’s handheld meter for measuring total dissolved solids (TDS) in a water sample. It provides a separate reading from the permanently installed salinity probe and controller display.
Spectra identifies it as a tool for checking product water and calibrating a Spectra Connect salinity probe. The freshwater-flush bulletin also uses repeated handheld readings from the brine discharge to establish when seawater has been displaced and the flush has finished.
These are different sampling jobs: sample the product-water stream for product-water comparison, and follow the flush bulletin’s discharge-sampling procedure for flush timing. Keep the sample source clear when comparing readings.

Check the handheld meter’s calibration and compare the intended water sample under the system’s procedure. Spectra’s poor-quality troubleshooting guidance starts by checking salinity-tester calibration; a disagreement alone does not prove that the membrane has failed.
