Legacy SP1 probe
EL-MPC-SP is the older SP1 probe. Spectra ended factory availability in July 2023. Use the controller-specific replacement paths below; SP4 is not an unconditional substitute.
Controller & Probe Replacement
Identify the installed controls first
Check the display's revision identifier. Establish MPC-3000 versus MPC-5000 before using a chip-based repair path; a system name alone cannot identify replacement electronics.
MPC-3000
SP4 requires an eligible MPC-5000 conversion. Check voltage, model exclusions and installation requirements in the 12V kit or 24V kit. Santa Cruz, Gulfstream and 380C are excluded by the conversion manual; Monterey remains under review. The conversion kit already includes an SP4 probe.
MPC-5000 chip revision
- B-series or A31: A40 board plus SP4.
- A34 or A35: SP4 with EL-MPC-SPCBA, or A40 board plus SP4.
- A36: SP4; daughterboard may be present or absent.
- A37, A39 or A40: SP4.
- Other or unreadable revision: no confirmed path in this reference.
Spectra Connect
Uses SP4. Check lead reach and installed connections.
